The Bridge

Just recently I have gotten back on my road bike. I took it to work (The Bicycle Escape) to get new brake pads and to tune it up. The bike is running just like it did when I brought it a couple of years ago. Today I road my bike to work witch I never had done before. Riding my road bike for the first time again was great. Getting out there again was tons of fun, the weather was warm and humid but I was out on my bike again so no complaints.

The sole purpose of this ride was to prove to my parents and to my self that I was going to be ok riding by my self again and crossing THE BRIDGE. Witch is an old two lain bridge that has no shoulder. To just put it out in the open it is not a user friendly bridge. One thing that did bother me today while I was riding was how many cars didn’t care or even notice that I was there. Meaning the drove right beside me inches away from me and the lane next to them was open. Cars have always been right there and from my experience have never liked bikers of any kind, bicycles or motorcycles. The problem is I don’t want to get hit by a car AGAIN!! Getting hit on my Haro BMX in a parking lot was enough for me. I would like to push for more sings on roads. It’s a free country we all can be on the roads, if we can just get a few more sings on the main roads that we are able to ride on and they are just a little bit bigger I believe it will help. I’m just not looking forward to getting hit by a car again anytime soon so I thought id just put that comment out there.

My parents overall did win the battle of proving to me that it isn’t safe to ride where I rode my bike today. I know it isn’t and have known and been told by several other riders that it isn’t safe. BUT that isn’t going to keep me off my bike. I'm going to ride and I’m going to ride to work. I would like more sings and more awareness and more riders on the roads. But that doesn’t mean ill get it o the best thing to do is to keep riding and I’m going to sit here and tell the rest of you to get up and get going. Get on your bike and go ride, get out there it’s a ton of fun and I’m sure you’ll love it.

Good luck to all you riders out there an ill see you either on the trail or out on the roads!!

Woodsboro

This is my Jamis Dakar XLT 1.0. I just got my bike and have been riding for about 1 mouth now. I posted about my first ride at little Bennett, then about my second ride at Green ridge. Well most recently I have been doing all my riding at a town park. Woodsboro park is a home town park with a huge hill and a 1/4 loop up at the top. Up at the top of the hill where the loop is there are down hills and a Quarry. The Quarry is a banded and you’re not really supposed to go back there but during the 3 years I ran cross country we ranall around and in the quarry. So I got the bright idea to take my bike back there. I popped a tire and got chanced by some workers so it didn’t turn out to well. But while riding around the area I discovered that I can turn left instead of the normal right turn and go ride on the other side. I am looking to go to that side of the mountain today so tomorrow or some time in the near future I let you know how I did

The Green Ridge Trip

This past weekend A group of us guys from The Bicycle Escape, and Kev, went to Green Ridge State forest. We went for a camping/MTB trip. The trip was amazing from my stand point. I had only been on one MTB trip prior to this. We started out by setting up are gear, putting on are bike gear, and heading to the trail. The first and only ride was a night ride, We Planed on doing more than just one ride but we were only able to do the night ride. It was my first night ride, and the coolest thing I believe I have ever done on a bike. The ride was a major challenge for me but was so much fun. I have to thank Tom, Mike and Kevin for allowing me to tag along on this trip. I had an amazing time and really appreciate the opportunity. The ride went great we ONLY 3 FLATS, and one very smooth crash! P.S. sorry Tom. But other than those issues it was a great trip. The ride opened my eyes to more opportunities with MTB and gave me a second boost to get on my bike. I had such an amazing time and will never forget my first bike trip. I had a difficult time on some of the up hills and am looking to train and get my legs much stronger so I can keep up next time. The ride aloud me to see what cross country MTB is all about and I can’t wait to get back on the trail. Again thank you so much To, Mike and Kevin I really appreciate the opportunity to go on this trip, ill see all of you on the trial next time.

Blogging

Im pretty proud of myself right now, My boss and all the guys and ladies I work with are all into their blogs and websites, which I must say are very good, but I don’t even have a My Space. Until I started working at The Bicycle Escape I never thought of making a blog or doing anything online other than using it for research. All the employees at the shop have their input into The Bicycle Escape blog and all have their own website or the own message board or something. I wanted to try and be hip like all the rest of the employees. I thought I would post a comment on the bike shop's blog.

Well.... there’s a little thing most people call common sense and I seem to not have any of it. I was all excited to post something on the blog. I clicked on the post a comment link and instead of just posting something I thought I had to sign up to Blogger. Well I did, I went through all this mess to post a comment. I got my comment posted. When I went to work that night I told Tom (my boss) what I had done and how I had posted a comment on the blog. I was so proud of myself and was expecting Tom to be the same. But.... instead he looked at me and asked if I had really signed up and did all this and signed up and made a blog, and I go, yea, isn’t that what you’re supposed to do? Well it wasn’t what I was supposed to do.

But the moral of the story is that now after making a mistake and not having common sense I now have a Blog. Not only do I have a blog but I figured out how to work the blog, post, add links, videos and pictures. Not bad for someone who doesn’t have common sense.
